In South Africa we have just commemorated the courageous youth in Soweto, who in 1976 under apartheid government, protested against black school children being taught in Afrikaans and English. I thought it is appropriate for me to share about the qualities of this young man called Daniel in the Bible, who was also courageous enough to rise above hurdles and remained connected to his power source.
We see Him being taken out of his comfort zone to the strange land, sometimes you need to be taken out of your comfort zone in order for your strengths and weaknesses to manifest. Life as I know it is designed that way (life evolves), you cannot be sitting in one place and expect growth, complacency breeds stagnation, in order for a seed to grow it needs to be removed from that nice packaging and be buried into the ground and that’s where it is expected to sprout and bear some fruits , its abilities to push through are well exercised only when it is under the ground.
“Do not lose your essence just because you are in a different setting”
I like how he held on to his God, first his movement from his country to the foreign land was not something that he asked for, nor was it in his plans, his country was besieged and they were captured, So I can tell that moving to that other country was not what he intended for his future but it happened because life happens to all of us.
“Find your truth and embrace it”
The wisest man of all time wrote in the book of Proverbs 23:23 “Buy the truth and sell it not”. I really believe that any person should develop and strive to be in a state of being true to self, naturally you will be true to other people as well when you are true to yourself. We ought to grow into standing on a stable ground, keeping the truth is what will keep us when others perish, living the truth will take us into greater heights because it just transforms our lives.
Being invited by the King did not change Daniel, He held on to his beliefs of not consuming everything you are offered no matter how well it is packaged. I can imagine the food at the king’s table , how pleasant it looked , it was not just any food , it was prepared by top chefs in Babylon, it was the best and expensive foods in the country , but still it was not for Daniel , Child of God please bear in mind that sometimes the things that are going to destroy us are not presented that way , that ‘s why discernment is vital in a life of a child of God, some of the things that may be treasured by the whole world (maybe like dining with the President) are just not aligned with your destiny, Sometimes you may be required to pray and fast for your President but not required to dine with him ( I hope you do get my point ).
Our bodies are the temple of God and we should take care of our bodies, feed your body with the right stuff, keep it clean get rid of that anger, run away from gossip, bitterness, worry and anxiety is not your portion (1Peter5:7) all these things that are found at the king’s table are not beneficial for you……… Stay true to your body.
Partaking at the King’s table means that you are in fellowship with different kinds of energies , at the table you are with people who have no respect for their bodies, they have no truth that they live by, at the table you are with people who can not interpret dreams because they have no insight , you are with people who will die because they have been thrown into the den of lions (let me remind you… that you don’t have to die just by being surrounded by lions) , you are with people who will one day bow down before the golden image and proclaim it as their god , you are with people who cannot survive the furnace of fire, so partaking at the King’s table means that your destiny is death, there are so many conversations and the sound of different voices is so loud, you can be easily hooked to other people’s truths.
Young man, young woman stay away from the King’s table, that fine wine found at the table will not quench your thirst, it’s not going to keep you,
Daniel1:12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.
Daniel resolved not to defile his body, child of God …allow me to ask you “what are you ingesting into your body, spirit and soul”
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things”.
As human beings God has blessed us with wonderful abilities, one of them is that of making choices, it’s your choice to say “no” or “yes”, train your mind to entertain things that will serve you, allow things that will do you good to enter your spirit. Vegetables and water may not look as attractive as the other choice but I say choose unpopular foods , they may not be everybody’s favourite but they will nourish your body , the water that God supplies will quench your thirst forever, the food that God provides will give you wisdom , choosing what you eat (what you ingest into your system) will give you exceptional abilities that are so ethereal.
Daniel 1: 15 – 16 “ At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead”.
” Do not follow the crowd instead bring forth your essence”
