It is pointless to focus on the outside, yet your inside is neglected, so there are things that she does to make sure that she takes care of herself holistically (spirit, soul and body). Besides going to church, attend prayer meetings, partake in prayer and fasting, she does a whole lot of other things to stay connected to the source of life (God), which she thinks is vital for everybody.
Hair: For a long time she struggled with getting it right, but with time she became better. Her hair is fine, thin and coily, above are the products that she is currently using for her hair, mostly the products are from Clicks, you can also find them from Dischem. She bought her shea butter and black jamaican castor oil from Natural Moisture. Giving herself time to understand her hair has made her to love and accept it the way it is. Cantu Leave-In Conditioner has been a game changer for her and she is so grateful to have discovered the product.
Fragrances: She likes smelling good and she admire people who smell good, the attention she gives to people who smell good is bias as opposed to people who smell badly. For her red door is her stable, She has had so many people who say Red Door is for grannies, with her it’s a different case all together as she finds it to be classic, and it was her first and forever love when it comes to scents. She uses it as a base scent and wear whatever perfume she feels like wearing on that day and the combination is always superb. Remember this is not about perfumes but about being clean.
Facial: She is very open in trying new products, she uses serums, oils, creams, exfoliators, toners, cleansers and sun protectors but Ponds remains the main product that she goes back to all the time, she now uses age miracle, though it has SPF 15, she always combine it with her Clicks SPF 50 cream. According to her, Sorbet sheet mask are a bomb, well done to the creator!
Body: She mixes oils (Olive Olive, Coconut Oil, Magnolia Tissue Oil, Castor Oil and Glycerin) and use that for her body all year round and it is amazing for moisturizing her very dry skin. This mixture has also helped with fading her stretch marks. Because she is a woman who likes finer things, she will buy body creams and butters now and then, but guess what, if there is any butter or cream that can work like her oil mixture, then she is still yet to find.
Though she use all these products to take care of herself outwardly, using them is in vain if she does not take care of herself inwardly. She is a woman of prayer; she really believes in the power of prayer. Prayer for her is the weapon she can never put down no matter what happens in her life. She reads the word of God (Bible) and meditate on it all the time. There is something tricky about the bible though, it can be a book like any other book, all depends on the reader, but the moment you read it, take it in, regurgitate it, meditate on it, pray it, allow it to correct; teach; rebuke; and instruct you, do as it says then it becomes alive in your life. It has the power to transform and bear fruits. Another thing that she does to nourish her inner being is to indulge in things that connects her with God; one of those things is to be in contact with nature. She has recently been on a short holiday that was intended to rejuvenate her soul. Most of the time, at least for her holidays are not for resting as she gets busier with getting to know the place she is visiting, for her it is just a change from her usually routine, it kind of rest her mind. She makes sure that she gets to eat the foods she enjoy, get in touch with nature, if there is no ocean, there must be mountains, trees, valleys and animals (not wild, dangerous animals). She enjoys the sound of nature; it could be waterfalls, chirping birds or trees responding to the wind, that connects her soul to God. Taking holidays is part of taking care of herself. She had a wonderful stay at CathKin Cottage in Drakensberg, no television, just silence and natural sounds, on the second day of her arrival she went to Spoilt Green Spa, and……did she enjoy herself!
Reading and writing is her culture, she is currently reading a couple of books, amongst those is the Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy, she bought this book in 2008 and this year she could not resist its new version at the bookshop, since the pages of the old one have been ripped. Reading broadens her mind and greatly transforms her thinking capacity.
As part of taking care of herself inwardly, she intentionally seeks and pursue peace with everybody and every situation. This is a difficult practice for her and she is learning a lot as an evolving being. She has learnt that she is not always in control of what comes to her but in control of what goes out of her. She will sometimes let things slide for the sake of peace but do confront some things, she has accepted that she is not loved by everybody, but again not hated by everybody; in fact the number of people who admire and love her exceeds the number of haters…How good is that. Therefore, she focuses on putting out positivity to get the same energy coming to her.
