Numbers 27:1 -7 (King James Version)
1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
5 And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.
6 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
We read of the daughters of Zelophehad who had no brother to inherit their father’s inheritance, but not having a brother did not stop them, they fought for their father’s name not to disappear from his clan just because he had no son. First, they were women, according to the Hebrew law only sons were supposed to inherit from their fathers, so they were in no position to inherit anything because of their gender. But because they were bold and confident to fight for what was right God favoured them.
We see that they approached the whole assembly of Authorities of their country, Moses who was their leader approached God regarding their matter. We don’t see Moses discussing this matter with other people but we see him presenting the issue at hand to God.
Child of God in any leadership position you are occupying whether you are a teacher in the class, a Pastor in the church , a Parent at home, a Manager at the office , a President of the nation etc. you only have one Master that you can report to regarding the lives of the people that you are leading, and that is God (the creator of heaven and earth), He is the one who gave you that position so please honour Him by involving him in any matter and you can only succeed by involving Him, He has gone before you and He knows the way, please trust Him with anything .
I pray for leaders like Moses who will bring our social ills to God and get advice from God , I pray for Leaders who will not judge things from the knowledge they already have but seek God for new strategies, I pray for leaders who are humble enough to involve God in their daily activities, I pray for leaders who will know when policies have to change because God is saying so but not changing policies to favour themselves, I pray for leaders who will be a voice of those who are voiceless, I pray for leaders who are God led.
