As real and earnest as you are Painted and adorned with all seasons and colours
That no man can escape
I can no longer wait to admit to myself
That you are still a beautiful gift to me
Sometimes my light goes out
And is blown again into an instant flame
When I ask, you give
When I knock, you open
When I seek, you make sure I find
And when I think I’ve got you
You turn and become harsh and brutal
Leaving a distasteful feeling in me
I pray and ask to be pardoned
And you hit even harder
You show me that, there are times where
Strangers are like family and family are like strangers
Truly you do change colours
You teach me not to say never
You make me distrust my own heart
You keep me on the edge all my life
I can never be comfortable
As I sit and wait what is next for me
That I should be grateful for
THE COLOURFUL GIFT OF LIFE
