She sat in one of her work trainings listening attentively to an orator thinking what a broad statement to say, “Be the change that you want to see”, considering her work environment, she thought what an Orator just said was too impractical and controversial.
She listened as she could not wait for the end of the training session so that she can raise her hand and ask questions that seemed interesting and applicable at least to her, but surprisingly, it was not long through the training session that she realized her questions were no longer relevant, apart from being supremely impressed by the excellence of an orator’s presenting skills and his outstanding confidence, everything that was being said struck a serious introspection and a sincere conversation within her.
An orator concluded by the story of an eagle:
“The Eagle has the longest life-span of it’s species, It can live up to 70 years, but to reach this age, the eagle must make a hard decision.
In it’s 40th year its long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey which serves as food, its long and sharp beak becomes bent, it’s old-aged and heavy wings, due to their thick feathers, stick to it’s chest & make it difficult to fly, then, the eagle is left with only two options: DIE or go through a painful process of CHANGE which lasts 150 days, the process requires that the eagle fly to a mountain top and sit on it’s nest, there the eagle knocks it’s beak against a rock until it plucks it out, then the eagle will wait for a new beak to grow back and then it will pluck out it’s talons, when it’s new talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking it’s old-aged feathers, and after five months, The eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and lives for thirty more years. “
It was not her first time hearing about the rebirth of an eagle, nor did she know if this was true but she decided to take the moral of the story and entertain the conversation that was brewing within her.
Change is more of a personal decision and it is not dependent on what others around you are doing, it is guaranteed to bring about positive results, it may take time but as you patiently go through it, you will be distinguishable where you are, it is definitely not easy but too fulfilling. Change means that you are not drifting through life aimlessly without purpose and direction, change says it’s okay to take a long, lonely walk to where you are going to shine, it is action, when you have stopped procrastinating and dreaming, change persist in making tweaks that will add value to the quality of your living experience.
